Our first trip in August was to London. We jumped on the train to venture out to King’s Road. The King’s Road is a famous two-mile- long street running through Chelsea and Fulham in London. Established in1694 by King Charles II as a private royal route, it evolved into the vibrant epicenter of the 1960s counter culture, fashion, and punk, and remains a premier destination for upscale shopping and dining!

Marianne and I continued the search for the Mother of the Groom dress with no luck. However, if Justin and Madi were getting married in London, I would have found the perfect hat. Hats and fascinations are worn to weddings in London as a sign of formal respect, social custom, and historical modesty.

King’s Road was a grand street to explore all the shops! Many dresses were tried on.

Beautiful flowers everywhere!

It was now time to hop into a pub to quench our thirst.

King’s Road didn’t disappoint-it was a wonderful day of popping in and out of all the shops and of course finding a nice pub to enjoy a cold one!

Our next trip in August was to Paris, our favorite City of Love.

Marianne had planned a fun layover! We had always wanted to tour the Sainte-Chappell in Paris.

Saints-Chapelle is a breathtaking 13th century royal chapel in Paris famous for its towering walls of glowing medieval stained glass.

Saints-Chapelle was absolutely stunning!

1113 scenes are presented in the breathtaking stained glass windows.

After marveling at the magnificent architecture and vibrant stained glass, we transitioned into an evening of Parisian hospitality with dinner and drinks.

We couldn’t resist a yummy bowl of French onion soup at one of our favorite French restaurants.

It was a truly grand layover spent in Paris!

Touchdown in the land of castles and cobblestones. So happy to back in Edinburgh.

Even under gray skies, Edinburgh never loses its magic.

Our trip became more memorable when we connected with our dear friend Emily, who is studying abroad in Edinburgh.

Marianne and I were so lucky to be in Edinburgh in the month of August to take part in The Edinburgh Festival Fringe. For three weeks in August, Edinburgh welcomes an explosion of creative energy from around the globe. The Fringe turns Edinburgh into a citywide stage for comedy, theater, music, dance, cabaret and more with over 3,500 shows.

With hourly shows and so many options, we decided we wanted to laugh, so we went to see a stand-up comedian.

We capped off a fantastic day by ducking into a cozy pub for dinner.

Ending a great day with a real-life rainbow overhead is the magical sign-off from Edinburgh.
OUR LAST TRIP IN AUGUST WAS TO MILAN

We stepped into Milan with high spirits!

First stop in Milan was to the Brera district, which is Milan’s historic, bohemian-chic arts quarter. Great place for people watching!

We then strolled over to The Arco della Pace (Arch of Peace) in Milan.

We found a cozy place to quench our thirst and then jumped on the trolley to take us back towards our hotel.

Visiting Milan offered us an amazing mix of Italian culture, legendary art, and world-class style.

August proved to be a magnificent month, dedicated to us enjoying the final radiant days of the summer season at some of our favorite places.
